What is Lamination Varnish and why it is a hot trend in paper packaging industry now?
Water-based lamination varnish or aqueous liquid film refers to the varnish used in the packaging industry to achieve the finishing effect close to film lamination. This finishing solution is a mature replacement choice of dry film lamination in response to the new environmental protection and global plastic-ban policy.
After lamination varnish coating, the paper packaging products have excellent features of scratch-resistance, folding and paper bursting resistance, wear resistance, and water-proof. It is widely used in medical treatment products, electronic equipment and make-up products, Educational and other packaging products, to replace the non-degradable and non-environmental-friendly film laminating processes.

Folding resistance index: positive and negative folding ≥ 10 times
Product Characteristics
- It has high gloss, good film-forming property, good wear resistance, excellent anti-sticking, bending resistance and low ink explosion
- Fast drying speed and strong suitability. All kinds of paper and paperboard can be used;
- The lamination varnish is water-based, non-combustible and pollution-free. It is safe to use, meets the environmental protection requirements and can be degraded.
- It has glossy type and matte type of liquid lamination varnish.
- Since it is very difficult to clean the water-based lamination varnish after it dries, the application roller and the coater head must be kept in dynamic operation as far as possible. In case of shutdown, the machine head should be cleaned immediately to prevent the varnish from drying. The cleaning solution is usually water or 1% alcohol solution.
